Delhi-Leh-Delhi Bike Ride – Part 6 – Leh Local Sightseeing

A bustling crowd had gathered around the stupa, adding to its vibrant ambiance. Shanti Stupa, an ideal spot for leisurely evenings in Leh’s consistently cool climate, saw the ebb and flow of visitors as the daylight gradually dimmed. The atmosphere shifted as the sun sank, taking the fervor of the crowd with it. Today being a full moon day, the stupa took on an ethereal glow in the moonlight’s embrace. Witnessing the city of Leh aglow under the moon’s radiance from the elevated vantage point was a spectacle of unique allure.

Delhi-Leh-Delhi Bike Trip – Part 5 – From Srinagar to Leh

On the way to Kargil, 55 km before reaching the town, we came across the Kargil War Memorial. We decided to stop there, and to our surprise, we found all the Keralites we had encountered earlier on our journey also present. The memorial showcased scenes from the Kargil war that took place between India and Pakistan in 1999. It was a poignant sight, with tributes to all the soldiers who lost their lives in the conflict and displays of the weapons used during the war.

As we proceeded, we noticed a gradual change in the landscape. Our path led us alongside the mountains, with lush green hills on either side. The view was absolutely breathtaking, and the beauty of the mountains left us speechless. Along the way, we encountered debris from the previous day’s landslide in some places, but it didn’t impede the flow of traffic.

Delhi-Leh-Delhi Bike Trip 3rd Part – Jallianwala Bagh, Partition Museum, Wagah Border

This is the process of the ceremony. The soldiers from India and Pakistan would engage in a shouting match before parting ways with their flags and exchanging handshakes. This was accompanied by the cheers of the onlookers. Witnessing the ceremony in person is a unique experience. Indian side was leading, where the noise was strongest. The crowd on the Pakistani side was smaller, and the thousands of spectators on the Indian side easily outmatched them. At six o’clock, the flags were lowered in unison, folded, and held by the soldiers. The ceremony ended with a handshake between the two sides.

Leh Bike Trip Planning

An all India trip was a dream that existed even before owning a vehicle. The lust was inside for almost ten years. After the marriage that desire intensified because Divya was also there with her full consent. So 2020 was fixed to give life to that dream. From that day we started saving a portion of our savings for the dream of travel. It has also been decided to start the journey in 2022 . The reason for choosing 2022 was that the leave would be credited in the account of both by then. Both will get leave for 30 days. We told about the same in office in January 2022. The managers agreed without raising any objections. So the first hurdle was over.
